【摘要】:Theproceduresoutlinedherearegroundedinthegenerallyacceptedbodyofknowledgeandexperienceinthefieldofforensicdocumentexamination.Byfollowingtheseprocedures,aforensicdocumentexaminercanreliablyreachanopinionconcerningwhethertwoormoredocumentsproducedwithtonertechnologyarefromthesamedevice,whetheraparticulardevicecreatedthedocument,orthedeterminationofthemakeormodelofadevice.1.1Thisguideprovidesproceduresthatshouldbeusedbyforensicdocumentexaminers(GuideE444)forexaminationsofdocumentsproducedwithtonertechnology,andrelatedprocedures.1.2Theseproceduresareapplicablewhethertheexaminationisofquestionedandknownitem(s)orofexclusivelyquestioneditem(s).1.3Theseproceduresincludeevaluationofthesufficiencyofthematerialavailableforexamination.1.4Theparticularmethodsusedinagivencasewilldependuponthenatureandsufficiencyofthematerialavailableforexamination.1.5Thisguidemaynotcoverallaspectsofunusualoruncommonexaminations.1.6Thesemethodsareapplicabletoexaminationsinvolvingphotocopiers,printers,facsimiledevices,andmultifunctiondevicesusingtonertechnology.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
