【摘要】:Theamountofrustingbeneathorthroughapaintfilmisasignificantfactorindeterminingwhetheracoatingsystemshouldberepairedorreplaced.Thispracticeprovidesastandardizedmeansforquantifyingtheamountanddistributionofvisiblesurfacerust.Thedegreeofrustingisevaluatedusingazerototenscalebasedonthepercentageofvisiblesurfacerust.Thedistributionoftherustisclassifiedasspotrust,generalrust,pinpointrustorhybridrust.1.1Thispracticecoverstheevaluationofthedegreeofrustingonpaintedsteelsurfaces.Thevisualexampleswhichdepictthepercentageofrustinggiveninthewrittenspecificationsformpartofthestandard.Intheeventofadispute,thewrittendefinitionprevails.ThesevisualexamplesweredevelopedincooperationwithSSPC:TheSocietyforProtectiveCoatingstofurtherstandardizationofmethods.Thephotographscanbeusedtoestimatethepercentageofothercoatingdefectsonvarioussubstrates.Thisstandarddoesnotincludeevaluationofrustpropagationaroundaninitiallypreparedscribe,score,orholiday.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
